Who friended who on facebook
Is there a way to see who initiated the friend request between myself and a Facebook friend?
I have email notifications enabled for friend requests and confirmations. That way, I can just search my email account and easily see when they requested me or they accepted my request (and which direction it was).
Of course, the downside of this method is that it doesn't work retroactively. It is much easier and more convenient than manually keeping a separate journal of friend requests, though.
I have email notifications turned off for everything else (I'm a fairly heavy user and get a lot of notifications), but I thought it was useful to satisfy my future curiosity about friend requests.

Is this answer still relevant and up to date?
Your profile -> Activity log -> More -> Friends
If you have sent the request it will appear as:
*your name* sent *their name* a request
If they have sent the request and you have accepted it:
*your name* became friends with *their name
I think you can search your mail with the friends name. If you have a mail saying "XXX has confirmed that you're friends on Facebook." means you sent the request in the first place. If you find a mail which says "XXXX wants to be friends with you on Facebook." means they sent the request
